Water color skills are really coming along nicely in Fifth Grade.....
Kindergartners have been learning about shapes and how to mix colors. They have also been learning about the work of Wassily Kandinsky.
Today they added finishing touches to these amazing masterpieces.
This week in the art studio First Graders began to experiment with color and learned how to make a color wheel.
First we read this book - which I've loved since I was little......
We watched this little video:
Then we got to work!
Kindergarten had their first visit to the Art Studio today!!!!
We started our session reading this book:
And identifying, describing and discussing these shapes:
Next, we took turns choosing our favorite shape and drawing it someplace on our paper to create an interesting composition. Finally, we added color. Yay Kindergarten artists!
Second Graders at St. Thomas's Day School study and learn about their immigrant ancestors. The art projects that we do are usually based on arts and crafts from around the world. These Calder-esque sculptures were created after the students learned about Mexican Alebrije carvings. (Only the first half of the sculptures have been completed and photographed. The second half of the class will finish their sculptures next week.)
Painted by students in Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Grade under the supervision of Painter Marlene Rye.
