Kindergarten and First Grade have both completed monster projects. Yay Halloween!
Kindergartners have been learning about shapes and how to mix colors. They have also been learning about the work of Wassily Kandinsky.
Today they added finishing touches to these amazing masterpieces.
Kindergarten had their first visit to the Art Studio today!!!!
We started our session reading this book:
And identifying, describing and discussing these shapes:
Next, we took turns choosing our favorite shape and drawing it someplace on our paper to create an interesting composition. Finally, we added color. Yay Kindergarten artists!
Please enjoy the Kindergartners' Spring Flowers in the style of Georgia O'Keeffe!
Kindergartners have been learning about the Chinese Lunar New Year in their classroom. They painted beautiful springtime scenes using water color and tempera paints, and a top secret resist technique for the moon!
I thought it might be fun to have a Sixth Grader show the Kindergartners how to write their names in Chinese calligraphy. It turned out that we had four Sixth Graders who were able to help out!
It was fun for the Kindergartners to watch the big kids forming the characters and to hear them talk about which characters would best be used to represent each sound. Plus, the calligraphy is an absolutely beautiful finishing touch for these absolutely beautiful paintings!
